The letter from Professor Paco Seirul lo to say goodbye to Barça

On the last day of his contract after 47 years of service, Paco Seirul·lo announced that he is leaving Barça "forever grateful" for "having formed part of this great family". The emblematic physical trainer, the last member of the Dream Team who was still within the club, provided the media with a farewell letter after being told that they would not extend their bond for another season.

The news advanced on Monday by the 'Tot Costa' program of Catalunya Ràdio assured that the vice president of the club's sports area, Rafael Yuste, had informed Barça's head of methodology in recent years that the decision was made for reasons " strictly economic. Already the previous year that department was restructured when it was decided to dispense with five of the six members that formed it, with Joan Laporta already in the presidency.

In his goodbye, Seirul·lo did not want to go into details about this separation of paths and focused solely on thanking Barça for everything it has given him in the sporting and personal spheres. Cruyffista and pro guardiolista, he is remembered for his innovative physical training methods in which the ball was the main protagonist. Seirul lo was the last representative of the Dream Team still working for the club 30 years after that legendary team lifted the first European Cup for the club.

Graduated in Physical Education in 1972 and later a full professor at INEFC at the University of Barcelona, his career at Barça began in 1975 when he began to collaborate in the athletics section, first, and then became part of the coaching staff of Valero Rivera in the handball section before becoming essential in football.

"After almost 47 years at FC Barcelona, the time has come to say goodbye. I arrived in September 1975 and having been part of this great family that is Barça fills me with pride and, at the same time, I am eternally grateful for everything What has he given me.

In this house I have grown, I have been trained and I have learned the values that emanate from acronyms that unite us all. I have also tried to contribute my grain of sand to help in the collective successes of the different sports in which I have worked: Athletics, handball and soccer in all its categories.

For this reason, I can only thank all the people with whom I have worked: Presidents, directors, coaches, athletes, club employees and the journalists I met who have always treated me with affection.

Thank you all

Paco Seirul lo"
