The last key step of the police for the murder trial of Daniel Sancho

Daniel Sancho remains imprisoned in the Koh Samui prison, Thailand, waiting for the trial date to be established that will determine his future after being accused of the alleged murder and subsequent dismemberment of the Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta.

To this end, the Thai Police had 84 days to complete its investigation of the case and prepare a report that it had to deliver to the Prosecutor's Office, which in turn must prepare another report so that the judge can set the trial date. Well, after two months of work, the police have already concluded their investigation, so the last key step to know the fate of the son of actor Rodolfo Sancho is closer than ever.

A report that the police authorities delivered last Monday, October 2, to the Samui Prosecutor's Office, as the agency could confirm to EFE. Now, they must make their own report before the established deadline (the famous 84 days), which would expire at midnight on October 27. At that time, the judge may set a date for the trial.

Daniel Sancho's future is uncertain. The Thai Police assured that they would request the capital punishment, legal in the country, as it was a murder with premeditation and concealment of the body (aggravating circumstances), of which Sancho Gracia's grandson also pleaded guilty after his arrest. At the moment, it is unknown if the final report maintains the same accusations and request to the Prosecutor's Office.

Sancho, 29, was arrested on August 5 in Koh Phangan, after confessing to the murder and dismemberment of the Colombian surgeon, whose remains were scattered around the island and the sea, three days earlier. The young man is in provisional detention ordered by the judge waiting for the trial date to be set.

At this moment, however, he would not have a lawyer in Thailand - mandatory to face any criminal proceedings in the Asian country - since on September 7 his father, Rodolfo Sancho, decided to dispense with the services of Anan Chuayprabat due to "discrepancies." on defense." In Spain, the young man is represented by the famous criminal lawyer Marcos García Montes.

Since last August, Marcos García Montes has directed the legal defense of Daniel Sancho. The famous lawyer's firm is one of the best known in Spain in international criminal matters and, especially, in cases related to Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.

Since taking command, García Montes assured that they would focus all their attention on how the investigation had been carried out from Thailand, confirming that they would point out all those points in which Daniel Sancho's human rights have allegedly been violated and that could have contributed to constitute unlawful evidence. If the absence of premeditation is proven, the sentence could change to life imprisonment, with a minimum of 15 years in prison.

The choice of the famous lawyer is not coincidental. Rodolfo Sancho hired García Montes because he knew that his case was going to have a greater impact, since the criminal lawyer has already served as legal representative in other famous cases, such as that of the alleged murderer of the Marquises of Urquijo, José María Ruiz-Mateos or the last divorce of María Jiménez and Pepe Sancho.
