Carme Molist’s photograph of the drought in Sau, which shows the meander of the dry Ter and a person with an umbrella on a day when it was barely raining, has been chosen as La Vanguardia’s Best Reader Photo of 2023.

During a special edition of La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Debate, presented by Carlota Garcia Lorenzo, the jury (made up of Xavier Cervera, editor-in-chief of Photography and Documentation at La Vanguardia and associate professor at the UAB; and Narcís Serrat , representative of the readers) has chosen Molist’s image as the most representative photographically and informatively of 2023, a year marked by persistent drought.

In second position, the jury has chosen the image of the multicultural nativity scene in Plaza Sant Jaume, by Oriol Admetlla, in which Muslim women appear contemplating a nativity scene of Christian tradition.

And, in third position, the jury has chosen the snapshot of the summer autumn in the Mediterranean, by Lina Aguasca, another image related to the issue of climate change.
