The keys to the meeting of the Barça board to unravel the economic situation

Barça's board accelerates to close before June 30, the day of the closing of the financial year of the season, at least two of the three economic operations popularly known as 'levers' planned to clean up the entity's economy, comply with the fair financial play and be able to reinvest in the sports project.

Today the board will meet at 12:00 in La Jonquera (Girona) to make several decisions, including calling an extraordinary shareholders' meeting in mid-June to put one of these operations to a vote, the sale of 49 percent of Barça Licensing

The second economic operation that is being worked on is the sale of 10 percent of the club's television rights, either with the CVC capital fund or with another company. President Laporta said in his interview on Catalunya Ràdio that, apart from CVC, they have other options on the table and will choose "the best for Barça's interests". If the entity finally decides to accept the pact with CVC, an agreement that it rejected a year ago and that precipitated Messi's departure from the club, Laporta also values giving explanations in the assembly to argue the change of plans and request permission to sell 10 percent of its television rights for the next 50 years in exchange for an injection of 270 million. LaLiga has already warned Barça that there are no custom agreements and that they must accept the pact under the same conditions as the rest of the clubs.

Regarding the third operation related to the partial sale of Barça Studios, it should be remembered that in the meeting held in October, the partner already gave the placet to transfer to one or more investors a participation of 49 percent of its share capital. There is no proposal yet.

Barça closed the 2020-2021 financial year on June 30 with losses of 481 million euros. A budget was also approved that contemplates increasing revenues to 765 million euros. Sources from the entity insist that in order to balance the budget, the sale of players will not be necessary, but it is necessary to activate "some of these levers".
