The Jug of the Hundred Guineas, in the Nautical

This Saturday the Copa del América, the mythical Jug of the Hundred Guineas, has been exhibited together with the Conde de Godó Trophy at the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona. The so-called Hundred Guineas Jug is the most exclusive and oldest sports trophy in history, a piece that had been manufactured in London in 1848 by Messrs

The Conde de Godó Trophy dates back to 1973 and the base on which all the winning boats of the Conde de Godó Trophy are registered is a reflection of these 50 years of history of the oldest cruise regatta in the Mediterranean.

That the name of your boat is there remains for the history of sailing. All winners hoist this spectacular silver trophy. However, they do not keep it as property. On the contrary, the glass is exposed throughout the year in the Noble Room of the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona, for the enjoyment of members and visitors.

This silver cup was handcrafted by Soler-Cabot jewelry, a family business with a long tradition in Barcelona. Jorge Soler-Cabot, owner and then president of the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona, was commissioned by Carlos Godó Valls, then president of the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona, to design the first cups for the Conde de Godó Tennis Trophy and later, from Vela

Half a century later, the Soler-Cabot firm is still present in the Godó de Vela. It does not only do so through the trophy, but for the last two editions it has also sponsored one of the boats competing in the regatta. This is the Soler-Cabot Bamer, a DK46 model and which will compete in the Queen's Trophy under the name of Mercedes-Benz Valdisa and in the Tabarca Vela and the Copa del Rey Mapfre, as Estrella Damm.
