The judge has released the 53-year-old hunter who fatally shot a resident of Arbúcies last Sunday during a wild boar drive that was held in the municipality. The case is open for a crime of reckless homicide.
The hunter, who was arrested after the event, testified this Monday before the investigating court 4 of Santa Coloma de Farners, acting as a guard, that he has agreed to his provisional release. The judge does not impose any precautionary measure on him, but demands that he make himself available to the court whenever required.
The events occurred around 9 in the morning last Sunday during a wild boar hunt in the area known as Can Riera de la Pineda. According to the Arbúcies Town Council and the Catalan Caça Federation, the area was "correctly signposted" and the activity had all the necessary permits.
The victim, who was near a stream, was accidentally hit by a projectile fired by one of the participants in the raid. The hunter wanted to kill a wild boar that was about 50 meters away.
The 46-year-old victim lived in a nearby farmhouse, located approximately a kilometer and a half away from the scene. It is unknown what the victim was doing at that point, but municipal sources consider that "it is impossible" that she did not see the numerous signs warning of the celebration of the raid.
