The Information Council of À Punt condemns a verbal attack by Barrera's sister

The Consell d'Informatius d'À Punt has condemned "the verbal attacks and threats suffered" by the editing team of the midday news of the regional public channel on the occasion of news coverage related to the first vice president of the Consell, Vicente Barrera (vox).

The Consell d'Informatius expresses its "total and unconditional" support for the members of the editing team who suffered "verbal aggression and threats" by a member of the company's staff after the broadcast of a piece about Barrera after known, as a result of information from El Confidencial, that he continues to manage seven companies despite occupying a high position in the Consell, something that PP and Vox have defended for being within the deadline to solve it while the opposition demands explanations.

In addition to this statement from the À Punt news agency, the socialist spokesperson in the RTVV commission in Les Corts Valencianes, Mercedes Caballero, has denounced in another press release "the shameful attempt at manipulation by the Consell de Mazón" in À Punt, in which, as he has pointed out, "a direct relative - who works on public television - of the vice president rebuked a worker for the information coverage of Barrera's own incompatibilities to exercise his position as a public office."

The opposition in Les Corts Valencianes, PSPV-PSOE and Compromís, asked the first vice president of the Consell for explanations on Tuesday for continuing to manage seven companies despite occupying a high position in the Valencian Government, to which PP and Vox replied that "it is within the deadline " to fix the incompatibility.

The Consell d'Informatius d'À Punt has issued a statement this Wednesday in which it congratulates the editing team "for its resistance to pressure and for not allowing it to affect the content of the news item being prepared at that time".

Likewise, he says he expects "forceful action" by the company for behaviors provided for in labor regulations "in the face of an intolerable attitude."

For its part, the Unió de Periodistes has also ruled on the matter and has offered its support to the staff of À Punt Notícies, which has experienced "an unfortunate episode of attempted interference with threats when reporting" on the incompatibilities of Vicente Barrera, and he has said to hope that it is solved and not repeated.

This Wednesday, in Aspe (Alicante), the president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, has assured the media that he does not know of "any incompatibility", beyond "some headline of some mess that someone wants to set up", of Barrera, of the who has praised his "extraordinary work" from the Vice Presidency and the Ministry of Culture and Sports.

However, from the PSPV, its trustee in Les Corts, Rebeca Torró, had shortly before demanded Barrera's resignation for "non-compliance with the compatibility law", and assured that there is "no two-month period" in the law to regularize your situation.
