The Harlem Jazz Club celebrates 35 years with Son de la Rambla

To the rhythm of the son, the guaracha, the bolero, the cha cha cha, the rumba, the nengón and the changüino, traditional Cuban music has been played by the hand of Son de la Rambla, since they undertook their trip to Santiago de Cuba in 2002. Tomorrow, Saturday, December 10, they celebrate their 20th anniversary starting at 11:00 p.m. at the Harlem Jazz Club, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary.

The coincidence of both anniversaries will feature the guest artist Laura Flores, a member of Gema 4, Haváname and the Laura Flores Trio. The Cuban singer, who has lived in Barcelona for more than twenty years, has accompanied Omara Portuondo on her European tour and Ibrahim Ferrer on the album Buena Vista Social Club.

"The Barcelona Social Club", named anecdotally by La Vanguardia, have participated on various occasions in the festivals held in Santiago de Cuba, La Trova and Matamoros Son, as special guests of the Santiago de Cuba Provincial Music Center. For 12 years they have been playing on the Harlem stage to the rhythm of the Cuban son.

El Son de la Rambla has been participating in Barcelona's Major Festivals and in the Indianos Festivals of Begur and Cadaqués for years, and they are part of the orchestras that present the Antilla and Barts venues in their musical programming. Throughout Europe they have performed at the Tempo Latino Festival in France.

In October 2015 they were part of the program of the 47th Barcelona Jazz Festival, along with Cuban musicians Chucho Valdés, Paquito d'Rivera, Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Havana D'Primera.
