The Government urges Feijóo to act against Cospedal: "Or can he live with the corruption that stalks the PP?"

"The Popular Party has changed its face, but we continue with the same cross," warned Pedro Sánchez himself about the new leadership of Alberto Núñez Feijóo in the main opposition party, to criticize the same lack of reaction to corruption scandals that dot this formation that already reproached Pablo Casado, and that ended up costing Mariano Rajoy the presidency of the Government when the 2018 motion of censure triumphed after the court ruling on the Gürtel plot.

The chief executive also denounced that when Casado finally confronted Isabel Díaz Ayuso on suspicion of new irregularities, "they cut off his head", and the PP itself replaced him with Feijóo. But the Government continues to focus on the current head of the opposition, given the succession of audios by former commissioner José Manuel Villarejo that insist on revealing corrupt practices and behavior of the PP during Rajoy's mandates.

This is how the Minister of the Presidency, the socialist Félix Bolaños, did it again today from Barcelona, after the publication in El País of some conversations between Villarejo in May 2017 with María Dolores de Cospedal, then Minister of Defense and General Secretary of the PP , in which it is revealed that false evidence was constructed to try to charge Pablo Iglesias and his political party, Podemos, in court.

“It is important to put what we are learning through these audios into the proper measure”, Bolaños warned during his appearance this Friday at the Palau de la Generalitat, after his meeting with the Minister of the Presidency, Laura Vilagrà. "It is true that the capacity for surprise with the corruption experienced by the Popular Party has already been exhausted", the minister acknowledged. “But let us clearly explain what this is. This is the general secretary of the PP talking to a corrupt police officer, to charge political rivals with crimes. That's what we're talking about”, he stressed.

And he has directed the shot directly against Feijóo. “My question is: Does Feijóo have anything to say to this? Or can he live normally, immune to the corruption that haunts his party? Is Feijóo going to do something, is he going to open a file on Cospedal, is he going to open an investigation, or is he going to normalize it? ”, Bolaños has demanded. “Because there are some public statements saying more or less that this is something slight. In other words, for Feijóo, when some commission agents take four million euros into their pockets, they are crooks ”, he pointed out, referring to the alleged irregular contracts in the Madrid government of Ayuso. “And when the general secretary of her party talks to a corrupt police officer to charge crimes to different political forces, that is something slight,” he insisted, referring to the new audios of Cospedal with Villarejo. “Is this the level of tolerance that Feijóo has with corruption? It is a question that Feijóo should answer as soon as possible”, Bolaños has summoned.

Precisely the day before, and also in Barcelona, Feijóo himself assured about these new recordings of Cospedal with Villarejo that they are matters "already aired in the judicial field", and that, in his opinion, they do not have "much travel". “If there is any matter done incorrectly, I am convinced that anyone, whether from the PP or another, will have any type of judicial responsibility,” he alleged, although he clarified that when the “totality” of the Villarejo tapes are published they can be draw "interesting conclusions", including how it is possible that the former commissioner received so many decorations from the Government, "including the socialist".
