The Government denounces that Feijóo is dragged by Ayuso to launch "a call to hate"

“Unheard of… and highly irresponsible.” In Moncloa they warn that the leader of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has shown that "he does not have the authority to silence" the harshest voices in his ranks, referring to some statements by the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, in which he attacked Pedro Sánchez, assuring that the chief executive is trying to "kill and put in jail" the opposition, and even establish a dictatorship in Spain. Some statements that the Government consider absolutely crazy, despite the fact that they only seek to distract attention, in their opinion, from the “chaos” that their health policy is generating in Madrid. “And Feijóo not only does not shut them up, but joins them, which means destabilizing democracy in Spain”, they warn, about statements by the leader of the PP, made in Argentina, in which he endorsed the idea that Sánchez seeks to “change the democratic regime”.

“It should not be taken normally,” the government spokeswoman, the socialist Isabel Rodríguez, warned on Tuesday. “It is very serious that the leader of the opposition goes outside our country to question democracy. He is not criticizing the Government, he is questioning democracy in Spain. He is criticizing the basic pillars of coexistence, calling for hatred. This is very serious”, she has denounced.

The Government thus raises the shot against Feijóo, so as not to give Ayuso more prominence just six months before the new regional elections. Isabel Rodríguez has limited herself to ensuring that with his incendiary statements, Ayuso seeks that "according to what he says, we do not attend to what he does", in reference to the Madrid public health crisis. “But the serious thing for the Government is that whoever represents the main opposition party has taken another step: not only is he speaking ill of Spain outside of Spain, but he is calling Spanish democracy into question. And that is very serious,” she warned. "Spain does not deserve that the main opposition party does not believe that this country is a democracy," she stressed.

“The alarming thing is that Feijóo clearly seems to be being dragged along by those, like Ayuso and others outside his party, who are taking him to the most extreme positions on the right, even on the anti-democratic right”, highlighted the minister spokesperson
