The central government has come out against the noise and criticism caused by its energy saving plan, which comes into force next Wednesday, and ensures that there was dialogue with the autonomous communities and political formations in the gestation process of the measure – a royal decree law – to deal with the crisis situation and price shortages that are being experienced as a result of the war in Ukraine in the energy sector throughout Europe.

Sources from the Ministry of Ecological Transition assure that the incumbent, the third vice president, Teresa Ribera, met twice with the parliamentary spokespersons to inform them of the situation. These two appointments took place on July 19 and 27, before and after the meeting of the European Council of Energy Ministers, which was held on the 26th in Brussels. Ribera also met by telematic means with the regional councilors responsible for energy issues on July 28.

According to the aforementioned sources, in these meetings the available information was shared with the different political groups and they were invited to present proposals to deal with the situation. In addition, from the ministry they assure that to date they have not received any specific proposal from the autonomous communities or from the political parties on the energy saving plan. However, next Tuesday there will be a new appointment with the regional governments, to clear up the doubts that are on the table regarding the application of the royal decree law.

The measures adopted in order to save energy "are based on labor legislation" of health at work that already exists, point from the central Executive. In this sense, in the ministry that Ribera commands, they point out that a general rule has been included from the beginning with the exceptions indicated by the regulations that protect workers, and that, therefore, no exception has had to be incorporated later to the plan.

“There has been no need to relax afterwards. Flexibility is at the origin of the norm, from its most embryonic conception. The exceptions to the measures are included in the original text”, emphasize the sources consulted.

This being the case, someone who is sitting in an office or in an office will not have to work at the same temperature as someone who works in the kitchen of a restaurant, for example. The application of the decree will not be homogeneous for all workers, since there are professions in which employees are on the move and therefore require a lower temperature for conditions appropriate to their task.
