The Godó Trophy will bring together 70 boats and thirteen countries

“This is one of the most historic regattas in the Mediterranean and it has been held uninterruptedly even during the previous two years of the pandemic, which is an unprecedented and surprising event. Next year, the sailing Godó celebrates its half century and we are going to make it special”, Jordi Puig, president of the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona (RCNB), said this Wednesday during the presentation of a new edition of the traditional regatta, which will take place in the waters of Barcelona from May 26 to 29.

Puig also recalled that the 2023 edition will coincide with the arrival of the America's Cup in Barcelona, an extraordinary event that will be held in 2024.

The test, which has weathered two editions with inevitable restrictions (in 2020 and 2021), already has almost seventy registered boats, for a total of 550 sailors and thirteen countries represented.

Ana Godó, vice-president of the RCNB, has added that the next edition will reach the "golden anniversary" and Pablo Garriga, commodore of the RCNB and director of the regatta, offered technical details: "Two days before the closing of inscriptions, we are in figures of record".

The event was also attended by Gabriel Arranz (representative of promotion and sporting events of Barcelona City Council), Jorge Bonet Albalat (second naval commander of Barcelona), Xavier Torres (president of the Catalan Sailing Federation), Josep March Claret (territorial representative of Esport Barcelona) and Marc de Antonio (vice-president of the RCNB).
