The Department of Environment, Water, Infrastructure and Territory of the Generalitat Valenciana has launched the campaign 'Get on the savings movement with public transport' to remind citizens that they can still benefit from the advantages applied to the price of passes and multi-trip titles.

Until December 31, young people under 31 years of age enjoy free regional public transport services. For the rest of the citizens, the 50% reduction in the price of multi-trip passes and tickets also continues, which is valid until January 31, 2024.

These actions on the fare policy of regionally owned public transport apply to both public transport services managed directly by the Department of Environment, Water, Infrastructure and Territory, among which are interurban lines and the TRAM system of Castelló, as well as those managed by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat (FGV) and by the Valencia Metropolitan Transport Authority (ATMV), entities for which the corresponding resolutions have already been issued.

Users can benefit directly, without having to carry out any type of formality or technical process. Young people up to 31 years old who do not yet have a youth pass can request it through the Metrovalencia and TRAM d'Alacant websites, and at the TRAM offices in Castelló.

The objective of this initiative is to promote mobility habits for the entire society and remind citizens that public transport is an economical, safe, comfortable and sustainable means that facilitates urban and interurban travel.

Free access for people under 31 years of age is a measure of the Generalitat that affects all public interurban transport services under its jurisdiction, which entails the extension of the obligations for operators of collective public road transport, the responsibility of the Generalitat to implement. the measure, established by Decree Law 6/2023, of March 24, of the Consell.

The decree law approved by the Consell establishes obligations for public land transport operators to guarantee temporary free transportation for people under 31 years of age in public road transport services managed directly by the Department of the Environment, Water, Infrastructure and Territory. .

This measure will have an approximate cost of 3.55 million euros and will be financed by an agreement between the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda and the Generalitat for the implementation of innovative mobility solutions.

The 50% reduction is supported by the direct aid system to provide financial support to the autonomous communities and local entities that provide urban or interurban collective transport services, arbitrated by Royal Decree Law 5/2023, of June 28, by which certain measures are adopted and extended in response to the economic and social consequences of the War in Ukraine, to support the reconstruction of the island of La Palma and other situations of vulnerability.

The autonomous communities must commit to implementing a 50% reduction in the price of transport passes and multi-trip tickets, excluding the round trip ticket, of the public land transport services of their jurisdiction, covering 40% with their own funds. % of the measure, that is, the 20% additional to the 30% financed by the Central State Administration.

The Consell's decree law has established the obligation to implement a reduction in this price in said transport tickets for regular road passenger transport services under the jurisdiction of the Generalitat Valenciana, with an estimated cost of 3.63 million euros. .
