The Generalitat Valenciana asks the municipalities to pay attention to the homeless during the DANA

It is already raining on the Valencian Community due to the DANA that for days the weather alerts warned that it would arrive. That is why yesterday the Second Vice Presidency and the Ministry of Social Services, Equality and Housing requested the coordination and collaboration of city councils and social entities to guarantee the safety of the homeless in view of the alert of intense and persistent rains planned for this purpose of week throughout the Valencian Community.

The Ministry's General Directorate for Inclusion and Development Cooperation has sent a letter to town halls with more than 10,000 inhabitants and to entities that work on homelessness to establish the transversal work necessary to guarantee that no person who is in a situation vulnerable is left without receiving the necessary care during the emergency period established for the next few days.

The objective is to guarantee those people who, due to various circumstances, do not have access to the stable resources that are available for this group, receive the necessary comprehensive care.

For example, the Valencia City Council opened yesterday afternoon, at 8:00 p.m., the Social Emergency Attention Center (CAES) of the Valencia City Council, located on calle Santa Cruz de Tenerife and managed by the Red Cross, before the pre-emergency due to heavy rains in Valencia and the complications that may arise.

The municipal center provides shelter, drink and food and stands as an appropriate place in view of the intense rainfall that is expected this weekend and that is already taking place in the Valencian Community.

At the moment, according to the AEMET, on the southern coast of Valencia there has been 30 mm of precipitation accumulated in one hour; the same as in the south and north coast of Alicante. Meanwhile, on the southern coast of Castellón there has been 40 mm of accumulated precipitation in one hour and the AEMET establishes that 60-70 mm could accumulate in some points in a period of three or four hours.
