The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) communicated this past Thursday the resignation of the Spanish team of fifteen players through two emails, sent individually but with the same messages. Cadena Ser has had access to the full text, where the players defend that their situation is due to the current situation.

Those involved allege that the "generated situation" is "significantly affecting" their "emotional state" and therefore their "health". In this way, currently they are not "in a position" to wear the national team shirt and therefore ask not to be called up "until this situation is reversed."

Although without mentioning names, all the lights point to the coach Jorge Vilda, who had previously been questioned within the Spanish dressing room, especially after not meeting expectations in the last European Championship, where they fell in the quarterfinals against the host England, ultimately champion of the tournament.

Despite the current situation of 'the red', the fifteen players reiterate that their "commitment to the team in the past, present and future was, is and will be absolute", for which they imply that their resignation is transitory. "I am the first who wants to achieve the maximum number of sporting successes for our team," they transmit before assuring that they remain at the "entire disposal" of the Federation "with the aim of seeking the best" for the team.

The fifteen players who have resigned are Ainhoa Vicente, Patri Guijarro, Sandra Paños, Amaiur Sarriegi, Leila Ouahabi, Lucía García, Mapi León, Ona Batlle, Laia Aleixandri, Claudia Pina, Aitana Bonmatí, Mariona Caldentey, Lola Gallardo, Nerea Eizagirre and Andrea Pereira.

Full text of the letter sent by the players to the RFEF:

"I hereby inform you that due to the latest events that have occurred in the Spanish team and the situation generated, facts of which you are aware, they are significantly affecting my emotional state and therefore my health.

Due to all this, I currently do not see myself in a position to be a selectable player for our national team and for this reason I request not to be called up until this situation is reversed.

My commitment to the team in the past, present and future was, is and will be absolute. And I am the first who wants to achieve the maximum number of sporting successes for our team.

I remain at your entire disposal for whatever you consider appropriate, always with the aim of seeking the best for our national team."
