The friend of Borràs confesses the fraud and incriminates the president of Junts

Isaías Herrero, a friend of Laura Borràs and accused together with the president of Parliament in the trial for the alleged splitting of invoices at the Institut de les Lletres Catalanes has confessed everything. In the third session of the trial and to questions from the prosecution, the defendant confessed that he agreed with Borràs on "a covert employment contract" to be in charge of managing the agency's web portal.

He agreed with the current president of Junts, as he has reported, that the work would be "divided" into several contracts so as never to exceed 18,000 euros that would have forced a public tender. "The work could not exceed the amount of 18,000 euros," explained Herrero who added "We divided the work that had to be done into several contracts."

Each contract had to be accompanied by three estimates, but these were also falsified because the objective was to award it to Herrero. He himself has explained the operation. "For the contract, three budgets had to be presented, but the other two budgets were comparsa budgets," he stressed.

With this confession, the agreement that Herrero has sealed with the Prosecutor's Office is confirmed, as La Vanguardia advanced before the trial. In this way, the defendant ensures that the public prosecutor will present a request for a sentence of less than the six years in prison that he initially proposed and that will allow him to avoid going to prison. Isaías Herrero already has another sentence from the Barcelona Court of five years in jail for drug trafficking and forgery.

The Prosecutor's Office initially requests six years in prison for Laura Borràs and 21 years of disqualification from holding public office for the crimes of prevarication and document falsification. The information about the possible confession of Herrero caused an abrupt start to the trial against the leader of Junts, since her lawyers denounced that an agreement between the prosecution and the defense had been worked on behind the back of the president of Parliament.
