The Franco renounce five of the 55 assets they claim in the Pazo de Meirás

The legal representation of the Franco family has renounced this Thursday five of the 55 assets they claimed in the Pazo de Meirás, which was once the summer residence of the dictator Francisco Franco and which in 2020 passed into the hands of the Spanish State by court ruling.

The court of first instance number one of A Coruña hosts the hearing for the incident of execution of the judgment of the property of the Pazo de Meirás, because when it was determined that the property was property of the State, the Franco family wanted to empty it, but it is necessary to establish before the ownership of the goods contained in it.

In the previous questions, one of the lawyers representing the Franco has explained that she renounces five of the assets, among which are a painted Cordovan located in the chapel, a stone monolith or two Franco coats of arms.

Although it has not been detailed, these goods are inserted in the Pazo de Meirás, in such a way that their extraction would have a structural effect. In this way, there will be a total of fifty properties whose ownership will be settled in the judicial process that starts this Thursday.

The lawyer has also drawn attention to the fact that for fourteen months "movable property has been seized." And she has recalled that since that same period, the administrations are pending resolution of the replacement resources, which had a period of one month for the withdrawal of the goods.

The Pazo de Meirás celebrated one year last Sunday open to the public as a space of democratic memory away from the hands of the dictator's heirs and with a balance of a thousand visits per month.
