The former Perelló coach was arrested for sexual assault on a disabled player

The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested a 42-year-old man on Wednesday as the alleged perpetrator of sexual assault and harassment of a girl in Perelló (Baix Ebre). The arrested man was the coach of the local women's soccer team when the victim started playing for the club.

According to the complaint of the young woman, in her 20s, the man harassed her to meet her and pressured her to see him at his house. After much insistence, the player agreed. At her home, the detainee pressured her to consume drugs, then he held her back and sexually assaulted her.

The young woman suffers from an intellectual disability and had not reported the facts until the coach was fired from the football club due to "other causes", still unspecified.

The arrested person will be made available to the Tortosa duty court in the next few hours. He is charged with a crime of sexual assault, harassment, crimes against public health and illegal detention.

The alleged assault would have occurred last November, although the arrest did not become effective until this Wednesday.

According to the ACN agency, the girl did not want to report when the events occurred for fear of not being believed, but after the coach was fired she decided to report. The player had signed for the CE Perelló women's team last year.
