Compactor bins have an airtight design that prevents animals from rummaging through them and odors from spreading. In addition, they incorporate a warning system when the trash can approaches maximum capacity and use an application programming interface (API) that can be connected to the city's cleaning services management platform, making them more advanced. technologically.
They are more sustainable, for three reasons: they reduce the frequency of collection and, therefore, the mobilization of vehicles intended for this task, they work with solar technology and have a useful life of more than ten years.
The ten initial units are located in the heart of the city, specifically, in Plaza Comercial, in Calle de Valldonzella with Joaquín Costa, in Plaza de Sant Miquel, in La Rambla, next to Plaza de Catalunya (two units ), in the final stretch of La Rambla (two units), in Plaza de la Catedral, Plaza Vicenç Martorell with Calle de las Ramelleres and Plaza del Mar.
The Endreça Plan in Ciutat Vella
The introduction of this new model of litter bins is part of the Pla Endreça, which in Ciutat Vella translates into the change of 221 pneumatic collection boxes and the replacement of the 1,504 traditional litter bins in the district. The bins of less than 70 liters and the double bins of 140 liters are removed and the Barcelona model, with a capacity of 70 liters, and the double bin, of 220 liters, are placed in the areas with the most activity and uses. In spaces where more intensive use has been detected, 20 more bins are added.
