The Figueruelas factory stops its production due to lack of components

The Stellantis plant in Figueruelas (Zaragoza) will stop production from this Tuesday night shift until the last shift on Friday, September 2, due to a lack of components. A strike that already occurred last Thursday and that has lasted until the morning shift on Tuesday, as announced by the works council.

Its president, Rubén Alonso, has indicated in statements to Europa Press that the management of the multinational has informed the labor representation that a new indeterminate temporary strike will be carried out that affects the production of the three models that Stellantis manufactures in the Figueruelas facilities : the Opel Corsa, the Citroën C3 Aircross and the Opel Crossland.

Alonso explained that there are areas that can work, such as maintenance, but production is totally suspended and concerns most of the 5,000 workers at the Zaragoza plant.

The employees have an irregular distribution system of the working day, which allows them some internal flexibility with a maximum of 25 days, but "there are colleagues who have exhausted them and will have to go to the ERTE", which guarantees them 80% of the salary .

The president of the works council has recognized that these successive work stoppages affect the client who "is waiting for his car and this supposes a greater delay because the later they are manufactured, the later it is delivered". However, he has trusted that throughout the week the management of the multinational will communicate "good news" that means they will return to production.
