The temporary exhibition L'univers femení de Vidal Planellas (El universo femenino de Vidal Planellas) can be seen at the Museu del Suro in Palafrugell until October 22.

The paintings of Vidal Planellas (Girona, 1952) show the influence of the world of fashion in which he worked years ago as a designer.

On this occasion he transfers to the canvas a new, freer vision of the models previously designed on paper and which can also be seen on display.

The main theme of this exhibition, as can be seen in these photographs in La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos, is the female figure that stands out thanks to the bright colors used.

Vidal Planellas began in the artistic world from a very young age. He took an active part in the world of fashion. She has exhibited her works within the personal concept of feminine Art Deco glamor in Palafrugell, Palamós, Girona, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Bilbao or Andalusia.

In his works you can capture "a great emotional charge of safe lines with a drawing influenced by Modigliani and Picasso", as specified in the presentation of the exhibition. A lover of jazz, and specifically of Billie Holiday, one of the most important voices of this musical genre, he "seems to inspire his slender women of the night."

His female figures, outside of the everyday and far from the mundane, "form a gallery of sinuous bodies, sometimes naked or piled up in an intimate or sensual context."

At some moments "it can remind us of the posters made during the Belle Époque by Toulouse-Lautrec with dancers from the Moulin Rouge cabaret, with cigarette in hand and showy garters." On other occasions, the figures "look like leading actresses from American films from the 1930s."
