The eldest daughter of the King of Thailand, hospitalized for a heart problem

Real scare in Thailand. The eldest daughter of the Thai king, Princess Bajrakitiyabha, remains admitted to a hospital in the capital, Bangkok, after suffering a heart problem the day before while doing sports, the Royal Household Office announced today in a brief statement.

The eldest daughter of the monarch Maha Vajiralongkorn, also known as Rama X, fell "unconscious" on Wednesday afternoon in the northeastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima, 250 kilometers from Bangkok, while training her dog for a canine championship organized this month by the Army . After being initially stabilized at a local hospital, she was taken by helicopter to a medical center in the capital.

The statement from the always hermetic and cryptic Thai Royal House did not specify the current state of health of the princess, which makes it difficult to gauge the seriousness of her situation.

Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavati, who turned 44 on December 7, is the only daughter of King Valjiralongkorn's first marriage to Princess Soamsawali -the current monarch's first cousin-, a couple who divorced in 1991.

The princess is one of the most educated and trained figures of the Thai Royal House. She was educated in the most elite schools in her country and England, to her credit she has a Juris Doctorate from the American University of Chicago and a Bachelor's Degree in International Relations.

A lover of horse riding and fitness, she has practiced law and has been Thailand's ambassador to Austria between 2012 and 2014. She has also held various positions representing the country at the United Nations, among others in the UN organization for Women. or, more recently, at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

Single and childless, Bajrakitiyabha differs from her father -immersed in various scandals and with a reputation for being indolent- due to his discreet private life.

Although King Vajralongkorn, 70, has yet to name an heir to the throne, his eldest daughter is seen by many as the most suitable successor to the position.

In fact, after her father's ascension to the throne in 2016, Bajrakitiyabha took a more prominent role in the ceremonies and acts of the Royal House and on behalf of the country, which was interpreted as a nod to the possibility of being named heir.
