The Dénia and Manises hospitals will once again be managed by the Valencian public health

The Ministry of Health will assume direct management of the health departments of Dénia and Manises from the end of the concession contracts next year and will promote a "planned, rigorous and orderly transition" to this end.

Both the situation analysis report and the social and work climate generated in both departments, together with the need to guarantee legal security, "have been decisive in making the decision," as reported by the Generalitat in a statement.

According to sources, since last July the Department has been working to ensure healthcare security for patients in the two departments "and avoid situations as unfortunate as those experienced with the reversals of Alzira and Torrevieja." .

Preliminary announcements have been published for the tender of various services and various reports have been requested from the Generalitat's Attorney's Office to avoid legal uncertainty that could generate problems in the provision of assistance.

The main objective of the Department has been, from the beginning, to guarantee assistance to patients, that they are not harmed at any time in the process, the sources add.

Last week, preliminary announcements for bidding for laundry, cleaning, equipment and infrastructure maintenance, logistics, security, patient feeding, medicinal gases, electricity or gas services were already published on the public sector contracting platform.

These announcements make it possible to shorten the deadlines for submitting offers, which can be reduced from 35 to 15 days, as well as speed up other procedures necessary to complete the bidding process. All this with the aim that patients are not left unprotected when the change of ownership of the management of both departments occurs.

In the case of the Elx-Crevillent Health Department, the reports advise continuing with the concession, as long as quality indices are maintained, investment in technology continues, they are subject to rigorous control and the service continues to be provided with the same efficiency parameters that currently exist.

The concessionaires have already been informed and in the case of Dénia it has been agreed that the company will continue providing the service until April 30, to promote a well-planned, rigorous, orderly transition process with all the guarantees of legal security and assistance.

At this moment, part of the necessary administrative processing is pending, which the lack of foresight of the previous team and the circumstances arising from the election year have prevented it from being expedited to carry out a safe transition before April 30.

"The purpose is to avoid the chaos that occurred in healthcare in Alzira and Torrevieja at the time when both contracts ended," the same sources conclude.
