The District repeats in Catalonia and doubles surface area

The District, the professional real estate show chaired by Juan Velayos, will repeat this year in Catalonia in its second edition, although it leaves the Fira de Plaza Espanya venue and will be housed in the Gran Via venue, with double the surface area, 14,000 m2. "We left Barcelona... but only to go to l'Hospitalet de Llobregat, where the mayoress has given us a magnificent welcome," says Albert Planas, general director of Nebext, the company that organizes the new congress.

Planas points out that the change of venue will allow, above all, to reinforce the security of the event and prevent a repeat of the situation of last year, in which a hundred protesters rebuked and threw paint at the attendees.

"It was a difficult time -recognizes Planas- but we have managed to get 98% of the exhibitors to repeat in this second edition". In his opinion, "the decision has been imposed not to let a handful of people, who do not represent the whole of Catalan society, condition the future of an event that adds value to the city." The new venue, he adds, is more representative, because it is the one that already houses the Mobile World Congress, it will allow us to offer better services and grow.

The District was born with the purpose of being for its sector what the Mobile World Congress is for telephony: the benchmark forum for the sector for Europe. The fair wants to snatch this position from Mipim, the real estate show that is held in mid-March in Cannes, the same city where Mobile was held before landing in Barcelona. Precisely The District will begin a cycle of international presentations in this city, coinciding with the celebration of Mipim, "to reach the maximum number of funds and investors that will be gathered in that city". This event will be followed by others in London – “the capital of Europe for the financial sector” – and Amsterdam.

"We are very optimistic about the evolution of the show, because we were unknown, while now investors and promoters know what we do," he adds. The fair has chosen the motto "Where real business happen" because "we are an exclusively professional event, focused on putting all professionals in the real estate sector value chain in contact".

The District will advance its dates this year, and it will be held between September 20 and 22. "We want to mark the beginning of the course in the real estate sector, in a key year, in which the uncertainties about the evolution of interest rates, which keep investors in suspense, are expected to have been cleared up by those dates," says Planas. .
