The CSD paralyzes the double draw of the First Women's calendar

The Higher Sports Council (CSD), chaired by José Manuel Franco, has decided to paralyze the double draw for the Women's First Division calendar. The reason is none other than the intention of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and the Women's Professional Football League (LFP) to hold draws parallel to the calendar, whose powers belong to the latter. The CSD, whose task is to be an observer and mediator, has had to intervene because it understands that it is a situation that according to the LPFF is "grotesque and sad" where "players are being used as hostages", according to the newspaper Marca .

The RFEF announced on July 16 that on Wednesday July 27, that is to say tomorrow, it would carry out the draw for the Women's First Division, a competition that is not its own once the competition is already professional and, therefore, has left to be under the federal umbrella.

For its part, the LPFF, whose president is Beatriz Álvarez Mesa, reacted by announcing that the draw would take place at the CSD on a date to be specified, this being announced on Tuesday, July 26 for the same day. The entity was thus trying to anticipate the draw for the Federation and therefore asked the CSD to be able to carry out the draw at its headquarters.

After it became evident that neither of the two organizations would give up their intentions, the CSD has decided to paralyze the performance of both draws with the intention of reaching an agreement so that only one is carried out. According to the LPFF "it is a grotesque situation and we are sad to reach this situation. We believe that the most affected are the soccer players who are being treated as hostages," they point out.
