The crescent moon of the birds

The almost full crescent moon has attracted the attention of the birds last night in Vic (Osona), as if the birds had a premonition of the arrival of the last full moon of spring.

A bird looking at the moon is actually a gesture that has a more important background than it might seem. And it has been proven, for example, that the moon determines when migratory birds head south.

A study from the University of Lund in Sweden showed that the presence or absence of moonlight has a great influence on the moment from which migratory birds decide to fly in autumn.

But, they are not leaving yet, they are going to enjoy our spring and our summer first. And what arrives now, in a few hours, is the Strawberry Moon, the last full moon of this season of the year.

Specifically, the exact Strawberry Moon will be at 5:42 p.m. on Sunday, June 4 and under the sign of Sagittarius, according to data from the National Geographic Institute (IGN). That is the precise moment from an astronomical point of view when the face of our only natural satellite will be fully illuminated by the sun.

Even so, the crescent moon from last night and early morning has already been observed very bright, as can be seen in this report in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia.
