The commons want the City Council to be able to close tourist apartments that are in residential buildings, and also restrict seasonal rentals, those of less than a year in duration, "in the most stressed areas of the city."

Janet Sanz, number three on the BComú list and also deputy mayor for Urban Planning, has just detailed that "we want homes to be for permanent living, and not for speculation."

The measure would be applied to buildings where there are already homes located in zones 1 and 2 of Peuat, that is, mainly in the Ciutat Vella, Eixample, Sants-Montjuïc, Gràcia and Sant Martí districts, "where access to rent is more complicated _Sanz added- and, furthermore, there is more imbalance between the floating and resident population. We want the Generalitat to allow us to revoke licences”.

In addition, adds Lucia Martín, number seven on the BComú list and Councilor for Housing, this plan also contemplates restricting seasonal rentals in 26 Barcelona neighborhoods. "We want to protect the neighbors by avoiding the flight to the seasonal rental by developers who intend to speculate with the house."
