The Civil Guard, thanks to the information provided by agents of the National Police Corps of Elche, in an operation carried out within the Plan against theft from agricultural and livestock farms, has arrested a man for the crimes of theft of 5,000 kilos of grenades and fraud, and investigated another for theft. The proceedings have been brought to the attention of the Orihuela Guard Court of Investigation.

At the end of August, the Civil Guard of Callosa de Segura, thanks to the close collaboration with the National Police Corps, received information from agents of the National Police of Elche, of a theft of fruit and its subsequent transport to a town in the Vega Baja.

The events began on August 27, when the perpetrators showed up at the pomegranate plantation in the municipality of Elche, posing as the owners of the farm. Along with them came a group of hired workers, whom they had indicated were the owners of the farm.

Once the collection work was completed, the true owners went to the scene and observed the lack of fruit on the trees, as well as empty boxes, immediately informing the Elche National Police. Once the first inquiries were made and the destination of the fruit, the National Police transferred the information to the Civil Guard of Callosa de Segura, which activated the Field Robbery Team (Roca) of the Torrevieja Civil Guard Company to clarify the facts.

Continuing with the investigations, the investigators located the destination of the stolen fruit, a fruit and vegetable warehouse in the Vega Baja del Segura, where they were being selected and packaged, and whose manager informed the agents that he had advanced a payment of 6,000 euros for the fruit.

On September 28, Team Rock showed up at the pomegranate field, where they observed a group of workers who claimed to work for the owners, obtaining information to identify the perpetrators, locating the first perpetrator, a 30-year-old man. , and proceeding to investigate him for the crime of theft.

Finally, on September 30, investigators located the main person responsible for the events, a year-old man and resident of Cox, arresting him in the town of Callosa del Segura for the crime of theft of 5,000 kilos of grenades and another of scam.

The detainee has been released by the investigators and the proceedings presented in the Orihuela Guardia Court of Instruction. In addition, the Civil Guard recovered the 5,000 kilos of grenades that were placed at the disposal of their legitimate owners.
