The resounding setback of the Department of Education of the Community of Madrid has forced the regional government chaired by Isabel Díaz Ayuso to increase investment in dining scholarships by 44%, going from the 39.2 million initially budgeted to 56.4.
This increase will allow all families that have requested direct aid this year, more than 107,000 within the application admission period, to be beneficiaries throughout the school year regardless of the incidents, delays and denials caused by the change in procedure for request them. Some failures that prevented single mothers from accessing aid and that the Ministry attributed to a "system error" in processing.
The reduced price system that had been used changed this year to another of direct award scholarships with the aim of increasing the guarantees of the procedure, which has caused some formal incidents
For this reason and "to avoid harm to any family that needs their children to use this service", the regional government has decided that "the more than 107,000 requests that were registered within the admission period will receive the amounts of the requested modality, with retroactive effect to the beginning of the course".
