The CGPJ will appoint the progressive member Rafael Mozo as a substitute for Lesmes

The members of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) have closed an agreement to elect the progressive Rafael Mozo as a substitute for Carlos Lesmes until there is a renewal of the body of judges.

As sources from the Council confirm to La Vanguardia, this agreement has been closed by a large majority and will be voted on in the plenary session that is being held this afternoon for its official ratification. Closing the neuralgic points of the text, these sources maintain that the details are just being finalized.

This agreement rejects the report prepared a few days ago by the Technical Cabinet at the request of Lesmes and which established that the alternate for both the CGPJ and the Supreme Court should be the current acting vice president of the latter, that is, Francisco Marín.

The majority of the Council considers that the substitution of the body of judges should be assumed by the oldest member while Marín replaces Lesmes as president of the Supreme Court.

This agreement details that the Council committees remain as they are, with the exception of Economic Affairs, in which an adjustment must be made due to the departure of Mozo. It has also been decided that in matters of communication it be more collegial and not dependent solely on the president.

The substitution that will be approved by the body of the judges in full this afternoon is not well seen by the Supreme Court, which considers that Marín should assume the presidency of the two bodies, as stated in the report of the Technical Cabinet.

Mozo attended the parade on October 12 yesterday as the only representation of the CGPJ, after the invitations from Moncloa to the rest of the members arrived late and many decided not to attend.
