Last February 11, one hundred members of Club Vanguardia had the opportunity to enjoy an exclusive private visit to the exhibition Graphic Constellation - Young authors of avant-garde comics. Jordi Costa, head of exhibitions, presented it in the Auditorium of the Contemporary Cultural Center of Barcelona (CCCB), where the attendees, in an intimate and quiet atmosphere, were able to discover the surprising initiative of nine contemporary comic authors .
The Space was occupied by a total of nine creative, dynamic and versatile installations that spoke openly, with a touch of humor and through a critical vision, about aspects that cross the millennial reality and the youth of today , such as, for example, economic and labor insecurity, relationships, the internet and technocracy, female empowerment or sorority, among other topical issues. Bárbara Alca, Marta Cartu, Genie Espinosa, Ana Galvañ, Nadia Hafid, Conxita Herrero, María Medem, Miriampersand and Roberta Vázquez, are the nine authors responsible for shaping the proposal, curated by Montserrat Terrones.
This exhibition was part of the result of a network of self-publishing fairs, small presses and publishers that make up the alternative scene from which the authors of this incredible event emerge. The attendees found the opportunity to interact with the installations, discovering parallel universes that represented the conflicts of the millennial present.
The Exhibition, with the avant-garde comic as the protagonist, breaks the conventions and takes the comic out of the paper using other resources such as ceramics, tapestries and animations, to talk about the current conflicts of the generation born between 1981 and 1996
To conclude the visit, attendees were able to relax in the auditorium bar to taste a wonderful aperitif accompanied by Estrella Damm beer, while exchanging impressions, conclusions and expectations. Fanatics of classic and modern comics, together with curious and reflective spectators, enjoyed an irreverent, alternative and committed exhibition, making the visit an exceptional experience.
