The budget of the Girona Provincial Council grows by 16.6% to 197 million euros

The Girona Provincial Council will have a general budget of more than 197 million euros in 2024. It will be 197,154,000 euros, which represents an increase of 16.63% compared to last year. The institution recognizes that it is a "very important" increase and that it is mainly due to the positive liquidation of 30,000 from the State in 2022.

These good figures have made it possible to consolidate the fund of 28.5 million allocated to city councils, which has grown by 7.5 compared to 2023.

The president of the Girona Provincial Council, Miquel Noguer, recognizes that this "very important" increase suggests stagnation or a small drop in the budget next year but makes it clear that the cooperation fund "is here to stay."

Noguer, and the vice president, Pau Presas, have presented the entity's budget that will be voted on in plenary this Tuesday. A budget that stands out for a significant increase compared to last year and that rises to more than 197 million euros. The corporation is the one who takes the majority of the money, 186.8 million euros. The Dipsalut 16.4 million euros, the Xaloc 14.4, the Isaac Albéniz music conservatory 3.8 and the public entity linked to livestock and applied genetics, Semega, 759,000 euros.

Apart from the four entities that the Diputación manages exclusively, it participates in five other entities: the Costa Brava Water Consortium, the Vies Verdes, the Gavarres, the Costa Brava Tourism Board Girona and Sumar SL Counting all these, the final budget amounts to 285,850,000 euros.

Specifically, the Costa Brava Water Consortium will receive 51.5 million euros, eight more than last year. However, Noguer has specified that it is not a contribution of extra money, but that the Provincial Council will be in charge of managing more services within the consortium. For its part, the Vies Verdes will have a contribution of 6.4 million euros and the Gavarres with 752,000 euros. The Costa Brava Girona Tourism Board 6.3 million euros and the social action company Sumar SL 33.4 million euros.

The Provincial Council ensures that the investments by the corporation are maintained. Thus, 3.8 million euros will be allocated to the road network, another 3 million to the infrastructure to channel fiber optics, 2.5 for unique clean energy projects, 1.2 for computer equipment and applications and 427,000 euros for buildings and other constructions.
