The Barça devastates in the social networks

The ability of a club like Fútbol Club Barcelona to attract the masses is not new and for years the Catalan club has been the undisputed leader in social networks both within Spain and internationally. Added to this popularity in recent years have been the successes of the women's team, winning the last three Leagues in a row and winning their first Champions League in 2021.

The second position in the ranking is also for a Spanish club, Real Madrid, which ends the year with 208 million interactions. The third and fourth places are already over one hundred million interactions: Chelsea (118M) and Flamengo (100M), the latter being the only club from the other side of the pond that sneaks into the 'top10'.

TikTok is the exception in Barca's hegemony. In this social network it is Real Madrid who leads the ranking, with 3.08 billion views. Barcelona follows in second place with 2.92 billion views, with PSG third (2.42B).

In the case of the female account, its predominance in the social media market is absolute in Spain, more than doubling the interactions of its immediate rival, Real Madrid, which has 4.03 million interactions, compared to 10.1M for the whole azulgrana

Compared to 2021, Jonatan Giráldez's team has seen interactions on Twitter increase by 72% and has positioned itself as the third Spanish club -both male and female- on this social network. Only the male account, as well as the male Real Madrid account, overshadows it and its figures are ahead of those of powerful LaLiga teams such as Atlético de Madrid (9.33 million interactions).

These successes are due in large part to the milestones achieved by the team in recent years. From the first Champions League lifted in Göteborg in 2021, to the world attendance records registered at the Camp Nou last year, without forgetting Alexia Putellas' two consecutive Ballon d'Ors.

The players are increasingly popular with the public, as was demonstrated yesterday with the huge response from the fans to the meeting organized by the club with Aitana Bonmatí, Mapi León and Ingrid Engen. The three Catalans greeted thousands of culés for hours who came to the Barça de Canaletas store. The massive response from the public blocked a large part of the Rambla for hours and surprised even the soccer players who thanked them for their affection and did not stop signing and taking photos with the lucky ones who managed to enter.
