“More than fifty Balmain pieces have been stolen.” The creative director of Balmain woke up with this alarming message on the morning of Sunday the 17th, just ten days after presenting the spring-summer 2024 collection at Paris Fashion Week. Olivier Rousteing wrote a heartbreaking post on his Instagram account to report on the incident that happened on the road this weekend.
“Today I arrived at the office at 9 in the morning to wait for the last pieces for our show, the Balmain fashion show in September. I was starting to create some looks with the team when the driver called us and told us that he had been assaulted by a group of people. “More than fifty Balmain pieces stolen.” The driver was driving from the airport to the firm's headquarters in the French capital when the thieves intercepted the vehicle and took everything inside.
“Many people worked very hard to make this collection a reality. “This is so unfair,” claimed Rousteing. Traditionally, in fashion there have always been two seasons: Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter, so the entire creative process of a collection takes around six months.
Despite this dire situation, the team is working against the clock to be able to present the collection on September 27. “We are redoing everything. My team and I have worked very hard on this line but we will work harder, day and night, and we will not give up,” the creative promised.
Olivier Rousteing wanted to send one last message to remind his followers to “take nothing for granted” and to “stay safe.” Colleagues and friends of the designer have encouraged the designer in this delicate moment.
