The Army informs the Prosecutor's Office of the raffle of a prostitute among soldiers in the El Bruc barracks

This morning, the Spanish Army informed the Prosecutor of the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia of the alleged raffle within a WhatsApp group of soldiers from the El Bruc barracks (Barcelona) in which the prize was the services of a prostitute , as confirmed to La Vanguardia by military sources.

As published yesterday by Diario Ara, a sergeant and a corporal from the Army proposed to the rest of the participants in a WhatsApp chat -about 70 soldiers- to participate in a raffle to spend time with a prostitute on December 8, the day of the purest.

The goal, supposedly, was to raise money for company parties. In that private chat, photographs of the prostitute and the services she offered were shared, always according to the newspaper that provided the information. In addition, a poster was hung in the canteen of the barracks.

Sources from the Army assure that they have no "formal record" that the events described have occurred, since the aforementioned conversations "have not taken place in any official chat of the unit." They do not refer, however, to the poster that had been hung in the canteen of the barracks with the motto "lady-in-waiting raffle" along with images of the prostitute.

However, the same sources specify, "given the possibility that a private chat group has been used" in which some soldiers from the unit's troops allegedly participate in a way "allegedly in violation of the values of the institution", the Army de Tierra has reported the facts this Thursday morning to the Prosecutor's Office of the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia.

The first political reactions have come from the mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau, who has shown "her indignation" as "a woman and mayor of a proudly feminist city". "We ask the State for an urgent investigation and for responsibilities to be cleared," she adds, "she has denounced through her Telegram Channel

Colau, beyond this case that has become known, has urged a "profound change at the educational level, with regular training and updated regulations, so that this type of attitude has no place in any public institution."
