The Aragonese Government suspends the Catalans

Only the supporters of Esquerra Republicana approve the management of the current Government of the Generalitat, according to a survey by the Center d'Estudis d'Opinió (CEO), which reveals that the Catalan Executive does not reach approval among the Catalans as a whole. Those surveyed related to the party led by the Generalitat value his performance at an average of 5.4, while the citizens as a whole give him a 4.4.

These are the main conclusions of a survey carried out mainly between December 2 and 30, already with a monocolor ERC Government -after the departure of Junts- and with the budget negotiations underway. However, the CEO was receiving surveys until February 10. The study sample is 5,468 people.

The results of this study put the average mark that the Catalans give to the cabinet of Pere Aragonès at 4.4. However, in terms of percentage, 53% of those surveyed gave their approval. Despite this data, the negative evaluations of those who fail it tip the balance towards the lower band of 5.

The same thing happens in the ratings for party sympathy. Those related to ERC give the Government a 5.4, while those of Junts, which has settled in the opposition, estimate the management at an average of 4.8. The supporters of PSC and common, the two formations that have agreed the budgets with the Executive of Aragonès, give it a note of 4.7 and 4.6, respectively. Even so, there are more voters from these four parties who approve the Government than who do not suspend it. Those who feel sympathy for Vox, the PP and Ciudadanos are the ones who score the most downward.

One of the issues worst valued by citizens is the communication carried out by the Generalitat. Almost 80% of those surveyed consider that Aragonès and his team do not explain well enough what he does and why. At the same time, the fight against climate change, the fight against poverty and security are the three areas in which the Government's actions are most questioned. More than 50% value less than 4 in the actions of the administration on these fronts. On the other hand, the promotion of Catalan culture and the Catalan language is the most valued aspect, just ahead of public transport and infrastructure.

According to the CEO, the Spanish government obtains an even lower rating in the eyes of the Catalans: a 4. In this case, 50% of those surveyed disapprove of the management of Pedro Sánchez's cabinet and 46% give it a 5 or more . By parties, only supporters of the PSC and commoners rate it with a pass (5.8 and 5.2, respectively). On the other hand, those related to Vox, the CUP and Junts are the ones that give it the worst ratings.

The CEO survey released Thursday also asks about taxes. Half of the responses choose to keep them as they are and continue with the same services as up to now, while 32% claim to upload them to improve the services provided by the administration. Supporters of the CUP and commoners are the most in favor of increasing them, while those of the PP and Vox are the most reluctant to increase them.

For differentiated taxes, where there is a clearer position is in inheritance: 56% of citizens ask to lower it. 27% opted to keep it as it is. Also, more than half of the Catalans are in favor of not touching personal income tax or VAT. Practically a third of them, on the other hand, bet on raising the companies and assets.

Also in relation to taxes, 51% of Catalans believe that they pay more than what they subsequently receive in public services (health, education, benefits...).
