The AP agency fires the journalist who erred with the news of the "Russian missiles" fallen in Poland

The Associated Press (AP) agency fired on Monday the journalist from the national security area who implied that the missiles that on Tuesday, November 15, killed two people in Polish territory, near Ukraine, had been launched by the Russian army.

"An unidentified senior US intelligence official says Russian missiles entered NATO member Poland, killing two people," James LaPorta, 35, wrote.

Later, President Joe Biden considered it unlikely that the projectiles had originated from Russia. And then, both the Polish government and the EU and NATO indicated that it had been a missile fired by the Ukrainian anti-aircraft forces that, diverted from its trajectory, had fallen on the border with Poland.

Other agencies and news outlets around the world reproduced or echoed the misinformation, citing the veteran news agency.

And the world trembled at the possibility of an escalation of the war in Ukraine which, in light of Vladimir Putin's previous threats to resort to nuclear weapons, gave rise to apocalyptic terror.

The containment and caution in the reactions of the western front, recognized even by Moscow, caused the spirits to calm down and the scare to pass relatively quickly.
