The summer of October will intensify even more this Friday, with thermometers that will show markedly high values for the season in most of the peninsula and in the Canary Islands, so that there will be between 34 and 36 degrees on the southern Atlantic slope and this archipelago and 38 in the Guadalquivir and Guadiana, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
It will be warmer in Badajoz (38 degrees), Córdoba and Seville (37), and Granada and Jaén (35), while it will be milder in Santander (23) and A Coruña, Ceuta, Oviedo and San Sebastián (25).
In addition to enduring summer temperatures, in most of the country, stable weather is expected this Friday with slightly cloudy or clear skies and some intervals of high clouds in the west. Intervals of low morning clouds are only expected in Galicia, the Cantabrian Sea, areas of the Ebro Valley, the north of the Mediterranean area and in Melilla.
Regarding the wind, it will blow east in Alborán with intervals in the Strait. Light wind in the rest, somewhat more intense on the coasts, with the southern and eastern components predominating in the southern half of the peninsula, the south and west on the northern plateau and, tending to intensify, the eastern component in the Cantabrian Sea and northern Galicia.
The summer heat will continue this weekend. For Saturday, minimum temperatures tend to increase in the Pyrenees and the west of the peninsula, especially in Galicia. The maximums will decrease in Huelva and increase in Galicia and the Cantabrian Sea, even notably on the northern coast of Galicia and in the Cantabrian mountain range. In Asturias, the yellow warning will be activated.
For Sunday, according to the Aemet forecast, they will still remain at high values for the season in the Peninsula and, especially, the Canary Islands, and they will be able to exceed 34-36 degrees in the Guadalquivir, Guadiana of Extremadura and the eastern Canary Islands. However, the maximums will tend to decrease slightly in general, somewhat more markedly on the Andalusian Mediterranean coast, western Galicia and eastern Cantabrian.
The heat could begin to subside from the middle of next week, when the approach of an Atlantic front is expected that will leave an increase in cloudiness and the possibility of precipitation, in addition to a drop in temperatures in almost the entire country, although more accentuated in the north.
While waiting for the high temperatures to subside, this episode is leaving us with heat never seen before in October. Last Tuesday was the hottest October 3 in Spain since at least 1950 and also marked the fifth consecutive historical record for a warm day, after the previous four days, as reported by the agency's spokesperson, Rubén del Campo.
