The 1,300 evicted residents can return to their homes after the Castellón fire has stabilized

The president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig, has assured this Friday that the 1,300 residents who remain evicted as a consequence of the forest fire that started in Villanueva de Viver (Castellón) will now be able to return to their homes, and they will do so progressively, so the situation of thousands of people is normalized.

This has been indicated by the head of the Consell after the meeting with those responsible for extinction of the Villanueva de Viver fire.

The fire has been considered stabilized, although surveillance is maintained, according to sources from the Generalitat Valenciana. Ximo Puig has especially thanked the work of all those who have participated in the fight against the fire.

The regional secretary for Emergencies, José María Ángel, explained this morning to the media at the Barracas Advanced Command Post that the fire had already been without flame for 24 hours and with a "very consolidated" perimeter.

At the moment, the number of hectares affected by the fire is 4,700 and they have great ecological value. This morning, seven aerial extinction tasks have been incorporated, while 120 ground troops continue to cool and secure the most sensitive points of the perimeter.
