Territory unlocks another 273 megawatts of renewables three weeks from the deadline

New impetus to the renewable energy files that must be resolved and with an Environmental Impact Statement (DIA) approved before January 25 so that the promoters do not lose the connection nodes acquired and the important investments. The Ministry of Territorial Policy announced yesterday that another 273 megawatts have been reported, with which there are already more than 1,000 megawatts of renewable energy reported from the photovoltaic plant projects, which will allow the Valencian Community to "continue advancing in decarbonization and in energy sovereignty”.

After meeting with the president of the Valencian Association of Companies in the Energy Sector (Avaesen), Marcos J. Lacruz, Minister Rebeca Torró explained that a large part of the reports correspond to projects that must obtain a DIA before January 25, as indicated by the Ministry of Ecological Transition.

There were 65 files that were blocked in this department due to discrepancies on the application of the renewable energy omnibus decree between the leg that Compromís has in the department (the regional secretariat and the general direction of Territorial Policy, Urban Planning and Landscape) and the commands of the PSPV in the Ministry. Finally, after a tug-of-war and the intervention of the Generalitat's Attorney's Office, an agreement was reached to carry out the projects.

Thus, on December 21, they reported favorably on renewable energy projects that totaled 763 megawatts and that are also linked to the objective set by the Government for January. To them are added another 273, so the number of reported megawatts already exceeds a thousand.

During yesterday's meeting, Minister Torró wanted to once again emphasize the coordinated work that is carried out with the different departments of the Consell and assured that "the data highlights the firm commitment of the Generalitat to advance in the implementation of renewable energies."

In this sense, the minister highlighted the importance of "achieving the maximum production of renewable energies, not only to achieve the decarbonisation of the Valencian Community for the next decade, but also for the autonomy and energy sovereignty that we can have and that, as It is already being demonstrated, it is fundamental to guarantee the welfare state”.

For the minister, "we must add all the necessary efforts to be a benchmark community in renewable energy that exports energy", for this reason, she added, "we will contribute our work and all our capacities to all green hydrogen projects for storage and with everything that, ultimately, is on track in that direction”.

The reported projects have already been referred to the Ministry of Sustainable Economy, Productive Sectors, Commerce and Labor, which is the substantive body ultimately responsible for their approval.
