Terrassa will remember the victims of the 1962 flood with a sculptural memorial

At the end of this year, the Terrassa City Council will install a sculptural space in homage to the victims of the flood that affected a large part of the Vallès Occidental at dawn on September 25 and 26, 1962. Under the name 'Marca d'aigua', It will be located in Pla de la Corneta, between the Arenes, Montserrat and Tores-sana neighborhoods.

The planned budget for the project is 84,669.60 euros, and the forecast is to start the works before the end of the summer. With this project we want to pay tribute to the victims and their families, while maintaining the memory as part of the history of the city.

The sculpture will be the work of local artist Gabriel Verderi, conceived as a memorial space dedicated to all those affected and to invite visitors to witness in a place for contemplation and reflection. The element is made up of different symbolic elements that interact in the same space and refer to the city, streams and time.

In this way, the artist uses the form, the light and the envelope to make present, in a poetic way, the path of the water, the territory, the memory and the circle. Both the memorial proposal and its location were presented to the Comissió de rieres, as well as to municipal groups.
