Teladoc installs its first digital hub in Europe in Barcelona

The American firm Teladoc Health has opened its first digital hub in Europe in Barcelona, according to its international president, Carlos Nueno. The firm already employs 800 people in the city, including 250 doctors and 150 nurses, and runs from there all the group's international business, including Europe, Asia, Canada, Latin America, Australia and New Zealand.

Nueno explained that the hub develops applications and software for digital health, which allow remote medical visits and diagnostic tests, as well as data management solutions, artificial intelligence and remote monitoring of chronic patients. The Barcelona hub already has 40 professionals and plans to reach a hundred before the end of the year.

The firm has also opened a "show room" in the city where it exhibits the devices and robots that are the basis of its service, to attract new clients, generally insurers and companies that offer the service to the workforce, but also residences for elderly, private hospitals and national health systems. Thus, the company already has agreements with the NHS (British public health), with the Charité, a reference university hospital in Berlin or, in Spain, with the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital, which thus provides remote health care in Berga.

Last year Teladoc invested some 250 million euros in technological development on revenues that reached 2,406.8 million dollars (18% more) and an Ebitda of 246.5 million dollars. The international division led by Carlos Nueno contributed 305.8 million, 12.7% of the group's total revenue.
