Strike at Ryanair: new flights canceled today Wednesday

The second week of strikes at Ryanair continues to have a minimal impact on Spanish air traffic. Until 9 in the morning, a total of 6 flights have been canceled and 28 have been delayed, according to data from the USO union, organizer of the strike together with Sitcpla.

The airports that have suffered the most cancellations are once again those of Barcelona and Palma. In the case of the Catalan capital, flights to or from Brussels and Milan are suspended. On the Balearic front, on routes with Madrid.

In terms of delays, they are concentrated in Barcelona El Prat, with 12, and Palma de Mallorca, with 4. There are also problems with delays in Madrid (3), Malaga (2), Alicante (2), Santiago (2) , Girona (1), Seville (1), Valencia (1) and Ibiza (1).

The status of Ryanair flights can be consulted at this link on the company's portal. As an alternative, it can be checked on the Aena Infovuelos portal.

The strikes will continue throughout this month of July. In Ryanair stoppages are called until tomorrow and the next 25, 26, 27, 28 July. In addition, a new round of strikes is planned at Easyjet on July 29, 30 and 31.

According to sources from the USO union, the strikes are due to the discomfort of the crew, who demand the application of the collective agreement in force in Spain: 14 salary payments, 22 working days of vacation (and not 20 as Ryanair establishes) or abolish the model of subcontracting through agencies of the same group, among other issues.

In the event that travelers are affected by a cancellation of their flight due to the strike, they can exercise their rights to demand compensation. If the cancellation is the responsibility of the company -in the case of a strike it is- they can claim the compensation included in the 2004 European Regulation on the rights of airline passengers, which in this case provides compensation of between 250 and 600 euros if the cancellation has not been communicated within a minimum of 14 days.
