National Police agents have arrested a man for allegedly stealing, together with another man, a mobile phone valued at 1,199.98 euros from a minor who was distracted using the dribbling method, known to the police as 'ronaldinho'.

The victim was walking down a street in Alicante towards his home when two people approached him and started a conversation. Then one of them grabbed his arm and another pretended to dodge him and then they left the place in a hurry.

After these events, which according to the victim occurred "very quickly", the minor lost sight of the two suspects and realized that he no longer had his mobile phone in his pants pocket, the Police reported in a statement. .

The agents of the Judicial Police Operational Group of the Central District Police Station of Alicante began an investigation, took a statement from the victim and obtained images from various surveillance cameras of some businesses in the area where the events occurred.

Finally, the agents managed to identify one of the alleged perpetrators of the events, for which they established a search device that led to the arrest of the man accused of theft. The 21-year-old detainee was made available to the Investigating Court on duty in Alicante. The investigation is still open at this time and new arrests are not ruled out.

The National Police advises to be wary of all those unknown people who get too close and who, using any pretext, grab in a way that is too friendly, since we could be victims of theft in any of the modalities known today: the 'ronaldinho ' and loving theft.

In the first modality, the 'ronaldinho', two or more people generally act on a man and in which, while one of them grabs you by the arm and pretends to be doing a soccer dribble with an imaginary ball, another takes the opportunity to steal your mobile phone or pocket wallet.

In the case of affectionate theft, it is generally committed by women who act in pairs and who affectionately flatter the victim while hugging her or holding her hands and arms in order to steal, in this case, high-end watches and other jewelry, both women and men.
