Spanish soldiers rescue three children and a woman five days after the earthquake in Turkey

Members of the Military Emergency Unit (UME) displaced in Turkey have rescued a boy, a girl and their mother alive this Friday five days after the strong earthquake that occurred last Monday in that country and in Syria. As Defense sources have revealed to La Vanguardia, since their arrival in Turkey yesterday Thursday, the Spanish rescue teams have rescued at least one more child from the rubble.

The Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, announced this morning the rescue of the two brothers during their participation in the signing of the document for the transfer of land by the Jaén City Council to the National Institute of Aerospace Technology (INTA) for the Technological Center for Development and Experimentation (Cetedex), and the agreement for the creation of the Cetedex Chair between the Secretary of State for Defense and the University of Jaén.

In some recordings made by members of the team, members of the UME can be seen removing a small child from the rubble who is quickly evacuated from the place. In another video, a member of the Spanish rescue teams transports a minor wrapped in a thermal blanket to the place where the ambulances are.

Taking advantage of her speech at this event, the minister explained that she was "pending" a piece of news that had just been communicated to her by telephone, and that, "at this moment, the men and women of the EMU who are in Turkey in this drama so terrible that they are living" as a result of the earthquake. "They have just rescued a boy and a girl alive, and they are about to rescue the mother," she reported before the latter's rescue was completed.

"When I have spoken with those who are there, I have not stopped being moved, and I wanted to share that emotion with all of you here," added the head of Defense, who, in line with this episode, claimed "the value of emotions", defending that "in politics, as in life, it is important to feel and have emotions", and he has valued this Friday as "especially important" for this "scoop".

Margarita Robles stressed that "once again, it highlights how solidarity moves the world", and highlighted, in her capacity as Defense Minister, "the effort made by the men of our Armed Forces at any time, place and situation", and in this line I highlight that the troops of the UME are "spending hours and hours without sleep" with "very laborious operations".

She added that, "when these troops left for Turkey, she "told them that saving just one life is enough", and stressed that, "of course, they are helping", something that "today is reflected in this ", as he said before concluding, assessing this rescue as "good news" "within the drama and terrible pain that this earthquake entails."
