Sánchez will be absent for a few hours from the EU-Latin America summit to give a rally in Huesca

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, will be absent for a few hours from the summit of the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean that begins tomorrow in Brussels to participate in a rally in Huesca, diplomatic sources confirmed yesterday after the final sprint of electoral acts announced today by surprise by the PSOE, which will force him to skip part of the program of the important international meeting, the first between European and Latin American leaders in eight years. As European diplomatic sources stand out this week, Sánchez has been deeply involved in the organization of the summit, which is one of the highlights of the recently inaugurated Spanish presidency of the Council of the EU.

To arrive on time for the appointment in the Alto Aragonese capital, Sánchez will have to skip the gala dinner of the summit, to which the consorts of the 50 European and Latin American heads of state and government who are expected tomorrow in Brussels are invited. . The dinner, part of the informal program of the summit, is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., barely an hour before the PSOE rally begins at the Abba hotel, where the candidates for Congress (Begoña Nasarre, Alfredo Sancho and Ana Puey) will also appear. ) and the Senate (Rosa Serrano, Gonzlo Palacín and Lourdes Arruebo). Huesca is one of the provinces where a crucial seat is at stake for the PSOE to maintain its current majority in Congress; the local socialist section, moreover, is directed by personalities related to Sánchez and critics of Javier Lambán from Zaragoza.

The President of the Government will return to the community capital from Huesca (it is unknown if that same night or the following morning) to participate in the second day of the summit, which begins at 9:30 a.m. From Brussels, he will travel directly to San Sebastián where yesterday his participation in another meeting was announced that is called at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the Kursaal and in which the general secretary of the PSE-EE, Eneko Andueza, and the head of the list will participate of the Basque socialists to the Congress for Guipúzcoa, Rafaela Romero. In this case, except for major delays in the program, Sánchez should not, a priori, skip any part of the summit program since it is expected to end around 3:00 p.m.

Sánchez started his actions for the elections on July 23 with a rally at the Casa de Campo in Madrid on July 6 and, to begin with, he only had three more rallies scheduled throughout the campaign (in Valencia and Barcelona this weekend , and the closing of the campaign, which will take place in Fuenlabrada on Friday, July 21). After the face-to-face fiasco on television with the Popular Party candidate, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, his team began to schedule more rallies at the last minute. Sánchez was at a PSOE Santander electoral act last Thursday and, as announced today, despite his institutional agenda, he will be in Huesca on Monday and in San Sebastián on Tuesday.
