Sánchez will activate "as many measures as are necessary" to unblock the Judiciary and the TC

"The Government, how can it be otherwise, although we do not share the decision, we abide by the resolution adopted yesterday by the current conservative majority of the Constitutional Court", Pedro Sánchez assumed, in the institutional statement that he carried out this Tuesday from the Moncloa . “And also, in accordance with the law and the Constitution, the Government will adopt whatever measures are necessary to put an end to the unjustifiable blockade of the Judiciary and the Constitutional Court. And consequently, so that the Constitution and the popular will expressed in the 2019 general elections are respected”, warned the President of the Government.

Far from cringing or throwing in the towel before the decision of the Constitutional Court (TC), Sánchez has thus confirmed that he will go on the attack in his fight against the political and judicial right that has managed to paralyze his judicial reform. This same Tuesday, according to Moncloa sources, the chief executive will launch a "forceful reaction."

Sánchez, however, has not yet revealed what his plan B will be to try to get around the blockade that he attributes to the political and judicial right, for which different alternatives are open. "We are studying the best formula," said the spokesman for the socialist group in Congress, Patxi López. Slowly but surely.

“In moments of uncertainty, serenity and also firmness are required. Serenity in strict compliance with the law. And firmness to make respect for the Constitution and the popular will expressed freely in the elections prevail ”, Sánchez assured in his statement.

The Chief Executive has warned, in this sense, that "democracy requires respect for the law, respect for the popular will from which the legitimacy of all powers derives, including the Judiciary." For this reason, Sánchez has assured the public that "the Government of Spain will guarantee strict compliance with the law, the Constitution, and absolute respect for the popular will and, consequently, the constitutional mandate."

Sánchez has warned that the TC's decision is unprecedented, "in 44 years of democracy", by "paralyzing" the action of the Cortes to try to renew, precisely, the body of constitutional guarantees. And he has attributed this decision to the claim of the Popular Party to "retain by spurious means a power that the citizens have not validated at the polls."

The Government and the PSOE, meanwhile, put all the spotlights on their clash with the Popular Party and the conservative sector of the Judiciary, before Sánchez activates his plan B for judicial reform and his reaction to a decision of the TC that they consider “unusual and very serious”, as some of its conservative magistrates have acted as “judge and party”, as they denounce, despite having their mandate expired.

The Socialists thus insist on contextualizing the struggle in which the PP “does not acknowledge its defeat in the 2019 elections”, nor does it grant Sánchez “legitimacy” as president of the Government. "From there, the PP blocks the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary, which now extends to the Constitutional Court." “We are assuming things that are democratic aberrations for normal,” they warn.

“The anti-system attitude of a PP disgusted by its electoral defeat has been weighing down Spain for four years. Sticks on the wheels daily in Europe and at home to prevent the good management of the government from reaching the citizens ”, denounce the Socialists.

And they warn: “Feijóo arrived amid cheers and will leave through the back door. He has made Pablo Casado good. We have gone from felon to dictator. The same insults. The same PP. Feijóo is proof that although the PP dresses in the center, he is closer to Vox ”.
