Sánchez questions Feijóo's leadership: "In the PP the usual ones rule, the economic and media right"

The Popular Party, as Pedro Sánchez has denounced, "has changed its leader to travel to moderation", after the replacement of Pablo Casado by Alberto Núñez Feijóo. “And in the end we have realized that they were neither moderate nor do they have autonomy as a political project. In the PP, the usual ones rule, those who do not appear in the elections: the economic right and the media right of this country”, assured the President of the Government, during the PSOE rally that he carried out this Wednesday in the Granada town of Baza. "It must be said loud and clear: they do not have autonomy as a political project," he reiterated, after the breakdown of negotiations to renew the General Council of the Judiciary.

"A cover in a media outlet and a far-right radio talk show was enough to double their pulse and not comply with their constitutional obligations," warned Sánchez, in a veiled reference to a cover of the newspaper El Mundo and the radio program of Federico Jiménez Losantos , to whom the PSOE attributes the pressure, along with that of Isabel Díaz Ayuso, so that Feijóo chose to blow up the judicial agreement with the Government. “This is the PP we have. A PP that poses a problem for each solution, and what he does for each agreement proposal is rudeness ”, he has reproached.

Sánchez has thus once again vindicated useful politics, in the midst of an energy and inflationary crisis as a result of the war in Ukraine. "Now more than ever, citizens want to see their political leaders solving problems," he said. And that, he has insisted, is "the big difference" between the Executive and the PP. "The Government of Spain proposes a solution to each of the problems of the social majority of this country, and in front of us we have an opposition without a solution, without a project and without any education, installed on insult and disqualification", he has reproached the PP . “Doing useful politics is proposing solutions, not putting problems to all the solutions proposed by the Government. Doing useful politics is building bridges, reaching agreements”, he defended.

“The right is installed in denialism, in insult and without any type of political project”, lamented Sánchez, who has also criticized in Andalusia the “generalized and indiscriminate reduction of taxes” that he attributes to the PP fiscal model, and that "They always benefit those who have the most." The leader of the PSOE has criticized, in this sense, the fiscal measures championed by Juan Manuel Moreno Bonilla in Andalusia and Isabel Díaz Ayuso in the Community of Madrid. "I do not understand why the Andalusian right has proposed a tax reduction to 0.2% of the population, to the richest. Because, comparing the arguments of a community like Madrid, which has enormous economic development as a result of being the capital of Spain, in the end who is benefiting from this type of fiscal policy is not Andalusia, it is Madrid”, has assured. Andalusia, in his opinion, has to compete to have a good welfare state, with quality public health and education, and a firm commitment to the ecological transition. "Why not turn Andalusia into the Denmark of Europe, in quality and potential of the welfare state?", He has defended.

And, also in Andalusia, Sánchez has defended his commitment to dialogue to resolve the political conflict in Catalonia. "This is a legitimate government, committed to the Constitution and as Spanish as any other government during these last 40 years of democracy," he stressed, in the face of criticism from the PP for parliamentary pacts with Esquerra or EH Bildu. “We must remember that it was with the PP, in 2017, when a unilateral declaration of independence was approved in the Parliament of Catalonia. And it is today, with a new PSOE government, that we are guaranteeing the union and cohesion of the peoples of Spain. With dialogue, claiming the reunion and coexistence, and not the confrontation and confrontation between territories”.
