Sánchez meets with Borrell with the president of Argentina in the Dominican Republic

The head of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, held a meeting in Santo Domingo this Saturday with the President of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, and which was attended by the EU's High Representative for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell.

The meeting was held before the start of the sessions of the XXVIII Ibero-American Summit that convenes in Santo Domingo the leaders of the region to address common challenges.

While waiting for the Spanish and Argentine governments to report the details of the meeting, the meeting between Sánchez and Fernández with Borrell (all of them dressed in guayaberas) is part of Spain's desire to strengthen the ties of the European Union with America Latina.

An objective that will be present in the intervention of the President of the Government at this summit and that will be one of the axes of the Spanish presidency of the EU in the second half of this year.

Borrell traveled from Brussels to the Dominican capital on Sánchez's plane after concluding the meeting of the European Council, and it is the first time that the High Representative for Foreign Policy of the EU participates in this meeting of the entire Ibero-American community.

Sánchez also held another meeting prior to the summit sessions with the president of Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso.

The meetings have taken place after the working breakfast that King Felipe VI and Sánchez planned to host with the Central American presidents was cancelled.
