Sónar expands to Mallorca

One of the great hallmarks of the 2022 edition of the Sónar festival is its opening in the most varied senses. Something especially visible in Sónar D, but also in more geographical areas, so to speak.

On the one hand, there is the SonarExtra, which during the week of the festival proposes a "sound" tour in three spaces of Barcelona city such as the Palau Güell, the Fundació Antoni Tàpies and the Hotel ME Barcelona

An initiative of an intermediate nature also stands out, that is, it is not limited to the Catalan capital or looks at a foreign city. This is the island of Mallorca, which this summer will host Un SónarVillage a S'horabaixa.

The organization presents it as a new cycle with three separate dates (July 16, August 6 and September 3) and consisting of a musical proposal in the middle of nature. The idea, hence its name, draws from Barcelona's SónarVillage and in this case will involve the presence of prominent electronic dance artists in the afternoon.

In organizational complicity with the promoter Mallorca Live Festival, Sónar will bring top-ranking DJs to the Old Calviá Aquapark, venue of the aforementioned Mallorcan festival. For this new proposal, those responsible have shaped a totally new space with a capacity of 5,000 people.

The participants will be announced in the near future and the first tickets will go on sale at a reduced price.
